  • Accommodation standard and property safety

Every child should have a safe home and the best chance to access education, training or work. Independent living starts with clear standards while a young person resides in supported accommodation. We set and maintain those standards so daily life feels safe, homely and predictable.

Our Properties: Details and Features:

Our current properties are:

  • A 3‑bedroom house in Leicester, providing individual bedrooms and a shared communal living space.

  • Three 2‑ to 3‑bedroom houses in Nottingham, each offering individual bedrooms, shared communal living spaces, and gardens.

All homes are fully furnished to a high standard with modern appliances. They are designed to create a comfortable and homely environment. Each young person’s bedroom includes a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table and desk, ensuring personal space and privacy. Communal areas are regularly cleaned and maintained, providing a safe and inviting space for social interaction and activities.

All properties are equipped with up-to-date fire safety equipment, secure entry systems, and CCTV in communal areas to ensure maximum safety and security.

Daily Environment and Checks:

  • We keep each home clean, safe and welcoming.

  • Staff complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists to identify issues early.

  • Health and safety checks cover fire safety, electrics, hygiene, waste disposal, and floor and window coverings.

  • Each young person’s bedroom is assessed at intervals appropriate to need.

  • All checks and actions are recorded in Lief.

  • Young people are shown what we check, why it matters, and how they can participate.

Cyclical Maintenance:

  • Every month we complete a full property assessment to plan longer-term refurbishment.

  • Assessments cover roofs, windows, doors, walls, communal areas, kitchens, bathrooms and gutters.

  • The cyclical maintenance process ensures property investment is planned, timely and sufficient.

  • Progress is monitored by the RSM and NI and recorded in Lief.

Young Person Involvement:

  • Young people are involved in decisions about décor, communal spaces and routines.

  • House meetings and key work are used to agree meaningful improvements.

  • We encourage pride in the home and teach tenancy standards and property care.
